Our Mission
GFI was formed in 2011 with the aim of enabling people with disabilities to make new friends, do varied and fun activities, and experience new things.
It is a fully inclusive group that welcomes anyone regardless of ability and aims to reduce the risk of isolation.
At a time when social care is stretched to the limit and many people’s social needs are not fully met; we aim to provide a service to the local community which doesn’t exclude those that have limited financial resources/social care funding.
GFI is a member led group with approx. 40 members living in and around Harrogate. It organises regular activities based on the interests of the members.
What we do
That’s up to you!
Our members decide what activities we do each month and all our welcome to make suggestions.
So far in 2026…the GFI members have been bowling, enjoyed an Afternoon Tea at Mama Doreen’s, visited the National Railway Museum and raised thousands of pounds for charity through a series of sponsored walks!
Theme parks, theatre trips, days out and more…there’s no end to where Go For It can take you.

Who’s Who
Andrea is our Go For It Facilitator and has been since 2024! She says:
“I enjoy being the GFI facilitator because it allows me to create a warm, supportive and enjoyable environment where everyone feels a sense of belongingness.
I cherish seeing our members thrive, connect and achieve small victories together. It is also my way of giving back and bringing a positive impact to my community.“
